Yesterday was Andrew's first soccer game in the Helena city league. Things are completely different with a city league (vs. the YMCA), the kids on his team are, on average, older and much more experienced. Since Andrew's nature is not incredibly aggressive, we're not loving this new soccer experience. The good thing is that the league allows for an official goalie, so Andrew got to play goalie (with a real jersey and gloves). He made a great save in the first half, before deciding to join the others in the running part of the game. The latter half of the game was less than spectacular, as Andrew was obviously getting hot, tired, and somewhat sick (thanks Bananie for passing the summer flu along!). Keith and I were tring to get him motivated, and wound-up making him cry, so we win the "Worst Parents of the Game" award. :( We apologized, and made amends at home by having multiple popsicles.
Here's hoping future games go better (or that Andrew decides to move on to karate)!
